I like lists. Lists with check boxes in front of them. That I can check off. Neatly. As in: Task = Complete. I'm not doing so well with my Grunst Christmas Celebration list. It's making me just a little bit anxious.
Dr. Grunst...paging Dr. John Grunst...are you out there? Code 'get yer arse in here and give us some info.' Do you plan to make the trip? How many will accompany you? When will you arrive? How many jars of raspberry jam are you bringing me? (ooops, how did that get in here?)
Boomer, Lonni, Dad, Scott: Will you be submitting an appetizer? I have to make sure we have enough food to sustain us during all the fun we will have. So far I gotta say, it looks like the God's Country Grunst's may sweep in both categories again.
Kathy, Scott, John, Jeff...do you remember watching Papa and Gram turn on their back yard light and start pushing that blue wheelbarrow full of gifts toward our house on Christmas Eve? When I close my eyes, even after all these years, I can still see them coming.
Posted by Lisa at December 19, 2009 6:42 PMThanks for the update, Scott! Turkey for Kaila = check. Wheelbarrow = check. (I have two)
I'm so excited to see you and Kaila and am so glad you will be 'home' for the holiday.
Scott - start sifting through your recipe file. It is not proper to show up at a Christmas party without an appetizer in hand.
The wheelbarrow coming across the alley is my favorite childhood Christmas memory. We thought we were the luckiest kids in the world.
Six of us will be showing up for the party, and we will come with an appetizer and a drink of some sort. I will bring some fresh fruit and, when I get a chance, I'll look for an appetizer recipe.
Count me in for a chicken appetizer, bread appetizer and a fabulous drinkie!
We will be there with 2 appetizers in hand.
Step aside you Food Network junkies! The dynamic Father/Son duo - Dood and Scott - will be entering our prize winning barbecued meatballs into the competition. And due to popular demand, we will be whipping up the famous Tom & Jerrys for our drink.
Now this all depends on whether or not I have mastered the new remote after my new cable installation. These things take time, you know.
Ho! Ho! Ho!
Thanks to everyone for responding! Cross your fingers that the impending snowstorms do not stop Doodsbrood from gathering and celebrating this Saturday.
What a great visual that paints of Grandma and Grandpa on Christmas Eve.....again, would the Brood adopt me please :)
I will not be submitting an appetizer other then Kaila. I will require some turkey for Kaila though.
Yes, I do remember the wheelbarrow and it is the quintessential memory of Christmas. Can you provide a wheelbarrow?
